Assata Perkins, known professionally as Sa-Roc, was born on December 28, 1981, in Southeast, Washington, D.C., and is an American rapper. She studied at City of Peace and later attended Howard University, where she focused on biology. In 2002, Sa-Roc began collaborating with producer Sol Messiah from Atlanta. Her album Ether Warz was released in 2011. In 2014, she collaborated with David Banner on the single "The Who?" for her album Nebuchadnezzar. In May 2016, Sa-Roc signed with Rhymesayers and released a collaboration with Brother Ali on the album All the Beauty in This Whole Life, followed by the The Own Light Tour. Her album The Sharecropper's Daughter was released on October 2, 2020, and was recognized as one of the best albums of that year by The Economist.
