Biography

Sarah Willis, born on 23 February 1968 in Bethesda, Maryland, United States, is a French horn player. She began playing the horn at age 14 and studied at the Royal College of Music and Guildhall School of Music and Drama. In 1991, Sarah Willis joined the Berlin Unter den Linden (Berlin State Opera) as second horn under Daniel Barenboim. She later became the first woman in the brass section of the Berlin Philharmonic in 2001 under Simon Rattle. Throughout her career, she has performed with orchestras including those of Chicago, London, and Sydney, and has been a presenter on Deutsche Welle's Sarah's Music and the Digital Concert Hall. Sarah Willis also mentored for the YouTube Symphony Orchestra 2011, which drew 33 million viewers. Her discography includes Rosetti - Concertos for Two Horns (2003), Horn Discoveries (2014), and the Mozart-latin influenced album series Mozart y Mambo (2020), Mozart y Mambo: Cuban Dances (2022), Mozart y Mambo: La Bella Cubana (2023). In October 2025, she released the album Cuban Christmas.
