Sara BÉbiÅ qızı QÉdimova, known professionally as Sara QÉdimova, was born on May 31, 1922, in Baku, Azerbaijan. She began her career as a soloist with the Azerbaijan State Philharmonic Society in 1941 after completing her studies at the Baku Music Academy. QÉdimova's early training included mentorship from notable figures such as Huseyngulu Sarabski and Khan Shushinski. QÉdimova is particularly noted for her dastgah performances, including "BayatI-Shiraz" and "Karabakh shikastasi." During World War II, she performed patriotic songs, notably "Compassionate sister", composed by Uzeyir Hajibeyov and Samad Vurgun. In 1954, QÉdimova was awarded the title of People's Artist of Azerbaijan. She continued to perform and teach until her death on May 12, 2005, at the age of 82.
