Sawt el Atlas, a French-Moroccan band based in Paris, was formed in the late 1980s in Blois, France. The group consists of two sets of three brothers: the Mirghani and El Habchi families, with Kamel el Habchi and Mounir Mirghani serving as the lead tenors. Sawt el Atlas began touring Europe in their teenage years, opening for notable artists such as Khaled, Cheb Mami, Youssou N'Dour, and Natacha Atlas. Their debut album, Généraliser, was released on March 3, 1996, under the label Rue Bleue. The band's sophomore effort, Donia, was recorded in both Paris and Cairo and issued on January 10, 2000, by Tinder Records. Sawt el Atlas is known for their fusion of Arabic, raï, reggae, funk, and Latin rhythms, with love being the central theme of most of their songs, featuring lyrics in both Arabic and French. Their music has been included on various compilations, such as Africa - Tea In Marrakech, Arabic Groove (Putumayo Presents), Mega Rai V.2, Spirit of Rai, and World, Vol. 1.
