Biography

Royal City was a Canadian indie rock band from Guelph, Ontario formed in 1999. Fronted by Aaron Riches, the band initially released their first album At Rush Hour the Cars in 2000. They moved to Toronto after signing with Three Gut Records and joined label mates Cuff the Duke and the Constantines. During their career, Royal City toured extensively across Canada, including a performance at the South by South West festival in 2002 and notable collaborations with Leslie Feist, Sufjan Stevens, and Final Fantasy. In 2004, they released their final album Little Heart's Ease. After disbanding later that year, members pursued various projects. In 2009, Asthmatic Kitty Records released a collection of outtakes and b-sides titled Royal City.
