Roberto Blanco was born on June 7, 1937 in Tunis, Tunisia. He is a pop singer and entertainer who is considered a formative figure in German-language popular music of the 1960s and 1970s. Roberto Blanco began his first stage and film appearances in the late 1950s, initially in the company of his father Alfonso Blanco, who worked as a musician and actor. In the 1960s, Roberto Blanco established himself as a solo artist in German pop music and regularly appeared in film and television productions, including major Saturday evening shows on public radio. His repertoire is mainly pop hits and light pop. His breakthrough came in 1971 with the single "Heute so, morgen so", which entered the German charts. His greatest success followed in 1972 with "Ein bisschen Spaà muss sein", which reached number 1 in the German singles charts and became one of the most famous hits of the decade. Other successful titles include "Der Puppenspieler von Mexiko" (1972), "Heute hier, morgen dort" (1973) and "Bye Bye, My Love" (1974). Well-known albums include Ein bisschen Spaà muss sein (1972), Meine Lieder (1973) and Roberto Blanco (1974), which consolidated his popularity in the German-speaking world. In the decades that followed, Roberto Blanco regularly released new recordings and remained present as a stage artist, most recently with albums and singles that focused primarily on nostalgic and live programs.
