Biography
A native of Los Angeles, Robert Alan Krieger was sensitive to music from an early age, but it wasn't until he was seventeen that he picked up his first guitar chord. Seduced, he decided to take it more seriously, starting with Flamenco lessons, before moving on to Folk, then Blues, which he never really abandoned, before finally opting for Rock'n'roll.
He joined the Doors shortly after recording their demo in September 1965. An adept bottleneck player, he proved to be an accomplished melodist and talented lyricist, and the band owes its greatest commercial success to him: "Light My Fire ".
After Jim Morrison's death in 1971 and the release of the band's last two albums(Other Voices and Full Circle), he went on to form the Butts Band with John Densmore, but both of their albums were flops. Between 1977 and 2000, he produced a number of albums, including Robby Krieger and Friends (1977) and Robby Krieger No Habla (1989), while giving concerts with his son Waylon.
