Reparata and the Delrons was an American girl group formed in 1962 by Mary Catherine Aiese while attending St. Brendan's Catholic School. The trio of Aiese, Sheila Reilly, and Carol Drobnicki attracted the attention of producers Bill and Steve Jerome, who helped secure a deal with Laurie Records. Their single “Whenever a Teenager Cries” (1964) reached number 60 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and entered the top 5 in Canada. Subsequent releases, including “Tommy” (1965) and “Captain of Your Ship” (1968), achieved chart success, with the latter peaking at number 13 on the UK Singles Chart and propelling the group onto European tours and appearances on Top of the Pops. In 1965, the group signed with RCA Records, though none of their later singles entered the United States national charts. They released the albums Whenever a Teenager Cries (1965) and 1970 Rock and Roll Revolution (1970). Aiese also achieved a solo hit with the single “Shoes” (1975). After initially ceasing live performances, Aiese reformed the group in 1978, and they performed until she formally disbanded the group in 2000. Mary Catherine Aiese died on November 30, 2024.
