Los Relámpagos del Norte, a Mexican norteño duo, was formed in the early 1960s by Cornelio Reyna and Ramón Ayala. The duo consisted of Cornelio Reyna as the lead singer and bajo sexto player, while Ramón Ayala handled background vocals and played the accordion. Their breakthrough came in 1963, when they recorded their first hit single, "Ya No Llores", which was released in 1964. They went on to record several albums, including El Disco de Oro (1966) and Con La Tinta de Mi Sangre (1968). In 1969, they appeared in the film El ojo de vidrio, performing their hit "Hay Ojitos". The duo disbanded in 1971 but reunited in 1995. Their plans for a new album were cut short by Cornelio Reyna's death. Los Relámpagos del Norte has been respected in the norteño music world and is considered one of the founding bands for the genre.
