Biography
Raymond Agoult was a Hungarian-born conductor and composer, born on July 1, 1911. He lived in London and began his career as a conductor with the BBC Scottish Variety Orchestra in early 1954. However, he did not secure this role. Instead, he formed Raymond Agoult and His Players, a sixteen-member light orchestra for BBC radio programs such as Morning Music and Music While You Work. This ensemble broadcasted until 1966. In the late 1960s, Agoult conducted the BBC Radio Orchestra, and in the 1970s, he formed the Raymond Agoult Master Band for various radio programs. He released two albums with Decca Records: Overture! Overture (1957) and "Clair de Lune" (1959). Both albums were reissued multiple times and became audiophile standards. Agoult also composed several pieces for band and light orchestra, including "Bulgarian Bugle Boy" and "Caramba!". He passed away on July 20, 1992.
