Raphael Wressnig, born on October 14, 1979, in Graz, Austria, is an organist and composer known for his work in jazz, blues, and soul music. He began teaching himself to play the Hammond B-3 organ at age 16 and occasionally performs on piano, electric pianos (Wurlitzer, Fender Rhodes), and other analog keyboards such as the Clavinet. He collaborated extensively with guitarist Oliver Mally, resulting in five albums and a DVD, and worked with blues artists including Larry Garner. His international tours have taken him across Europe and the Middle East, including a performance at the Dubai Jazz Festival in 2014. Notable album releases include The Soul Connection (2016), Chicken Burrito (2018), and Groove & Good Times (2021). Wressnig was nominated for âBest Organ Playerâ in the DownBeat Critics Poll from 2013 to 2018 and has won multiple awards, including several Concerto-Poll honors between 2001 and 2012.
