Biography

Randy and the Radiants were an American garage rock band from Memphis, Tennessee. Formed in 1962, the group included Randy Haspel on guitar and lead vocals, Bob Simon on rhythm guitar, Howard Calhoun on bass, Ed Marshal on lead guitar, Bill Slais on saxophone, Mike Gardener on drums, and Toni Rossini on backing vocals. The band evolved from another group called the Embers and initially sought to emulate local acts like the Counts. The band disbanded in 1966 when Haspel and Simon were enrolled in college by their parents but reunited from 1974 to 1985.
