Biography

Born in San Diego, California in 1996 to a Korean mother and a Black father, Randall Goosby is an acclaimed classical violinist. He began studying the violin at the age of 7 and two years later, he made his solo debut performing with the Jacksonville Symphony (Florida). When he was 13, he was the youngest ever First Prize winner of the Annual Sphinx Concerto Competition (2010). He was then invited to participate in the New York Philharmonic’s Young People’s Concert series at Avery Fisher Hall, Lincoln Center. Randall Goosby was a recipient of Sphinx’s Isaac Stern Award and of a grant from the Bagby Foundation. He is a graduate of the Juilliard School, where he earned his Bachelor of Music and Master of Music. He has made many appearances as guest soloist with different orchestras across the US including the Cleveland Orchestra, the New World Symphony, and the New York Philharmonic. Randall Goosby has performed on many of the most prestigious stages in the world including the Kennedy Center (Washington D.C.), the Kaufman Center (New York City), and Wigmore Hall (London). Signing with the Decca Classics label, he released his debut album, Roots, in 2021. In 2023, he released the album Bruch: Violin Concerto No. 1 - Florence Price: Violin Concertos, which found him collaborating with Yannick Nézet-Séguin and the Philadelphia Orchestra.
