Biography

Randal Corsen, born on August 13, 1972, in Curaçao, Netherlands Antilles, is a Dutch jazz pianist and composer. He studied at the Fontys Conservatorium in Tilburg until 1997. In 1996, Corsen founded the group Cross Currents, which won the Oranjeboom Jazz Competition in Breda the following year and released two albums: Mixed Emotions (1997) and Sunú (2000). Throughout his career, he collaborated with notable musicians such as David Sánchez and Roy Hargrove. As a composer, he worked for artists like Izaline Calister and Tania Kross, and composed the music for the film Zuleika (2003). After Cross Currents disbanded in 2002, Corsen formed the group Tumbábo in 2004. In 2004, he received the highest award from Asosashon di Musiko Korsou and won the Edison Jazz Award for the album Evolushon (2003).
