Biography

Ram Sampath, an Indian composer, music producer, and musician, was born on 25 July 1977 in Bombay, Maharashtra, India. He initially built his career on composing advertising jingles for brands, as well as for Mumbai's advertising sector. Sampath transitioned to composing for pop albums and films, notably working on projects such as Shaan's Tanha Dil (2000) and movies like Delhi Belly (2011) and Talaash (2012). Raised in Mumbai by musically inclined parents, he was surrounded by music from a young age and even studied Carnatic music for eight years. Sampath's legal battle over the use of his music in the film Krazzy 4 highlighted issues of plagiarism in the industry, leading to a landmark court decision and an out-of-court settlement that favored him. He gained significant recognition with his work on Delhi Belly in 2011 and continued to garner praise for subsequent film scores, including the original soundtrack for the film Laapataa Ladies in 2024.
