Biography

Raggadeath was a Canadian rap metal band known for blending heavy metal with dancehall reggae-style rhythms. Their core members were producer/DJ/drummer Stephen Kendall and producer/engineer/bassist/keyboardist Walter Sobczak. Their debut album Why Ask Why (1995) featured the singles "One Life" and "Why Ask Why". "One Life" was a hit, being voted Favourite Song in Chart magazine's year-end poll; it was also nominated for Best Alternative Video at the 1995 MuchMusic Video Awards. The band released their self-titled album in 1997, which included "Dance with the Devil" and a cover of Eddy Grant's "Electric Avenue". Raggadeath disbanded following this release due to shifting popular culture trends toward electronica in the late 1990s.
