Biography

Rabby Slo, civil status Wilfrid Houwanou, composer and performer, was born on August 21, 1987 in Ouidah, Benin, one of ten siblings of a baker father and a cleaning lady mother. Like his brothers Assido, Dègnon and Vidégla, who form the Afafa group, he embarked on his musical career at an early age, releasing his first album at the age of 11, Enangnon , in 1998. He followed this up with three more releases, Djogbe, Mahu-Mahu and Séwouê. In 2004, he scored a national hit with the track "Ferme pas", then left his homeland for the United States, just as his career was taking off in his homeland. He enrolled at the Hochstein School of Music and Dance in New York, where he studied film music composition. After graduating, he worked in the audiovisual sector, producing music for television programs. He returned to his homeland in 2023 for a concert as a prelude to the opus Where I From, Fi Un Gosin, a few months after releasing the Afro Tchink EP, featuring the title track. In 2023, he also unveils a duet with Nigerian artist Teni, entitled "Bisou Bisou".
