Biography

Primitive Reason is a Portuguese alternative rock ensemble from Cascais formed in 1994. The group was established by the musicians Guillermo de Llera, Jorge Felizardo, and Brian Jackson. Their recording career began with the debut studio recording Alternative Prison (1996), which featured the track "Seven Fingered Friend" (1996). They achieved professional recognition for a musical style blending genres including reggae, ska, and punk. Their discography includes the studio recording Tips & Shortcuts (1998). After relocating to New York in 1999, they signed with the label Jahnotion Records and the ensemble included Abel Beja and James Beja. Their recording career includes the studio recording Some of Us (2001). They conducted tours with acts including Fishbone and Rammstein. They released the studio recording Power to the People (2013) following a fan-funding campaign. The ensemble resumed activity in 2025.
