Preoccupations, a Canadian post-punk band from Calgary, Alberta, formed in 2012. The group consists of Matt Flegel (vocals, bass), Scott Munro (guitar, synth), Daniel Christiansen (guitar), and Mike Wallace (drums). Flegel and Wallace were previously members of the band Women. In 2013, they released their debut EP as a self-released cassette. The band signed to Flemish Eye in 2014 after performing at SXSW festival. Their first album, Viet Cong, was released on January 20, 2015. Due to controversy over the name Viet Cong, the band changed their name to Preoccupations in April 2016 and released their self-titled second studio album, Preoccupations on September 16, 2016. The band's third studio album, New Material, was released on March 23, 2018. Their fourth studio album, Arrangements, was released on September 9, 2022. On May 9, 2025, Preoccupations announced their fifth album, Ill at Ease.
