Kavi Pradeep was an Indian poet and songwriter born Ramchandra Narayanji Dwivedi on February 6, 1915, in Badnagar. After graduating from the University of Lucknow in 1939, he moved to Bombay and wrote lyrics for the film Kangan. He achieved significant recognition for the nationalistic songs in the 1940 film Bandhan, including âChal Chal Re Naujawanâ. Pradeep became a celebrated figure in nationalistic literature with the release of the 1943 film Kismet, which featured the song âDoor Hato Ae Duniya Waloâ. The track led the British government to issue a warrant for his arrest, forcing him to go underground. In 1954, he contributed hit songs to the film Jagriti and recorded âDekh Tere Sansar Ki Halatâ for Nastik. His most famous work, âAye Mere Watan Ke Logoâ, was performed by Lata Mangeshkar in 1963 following the Sino-Indian War. Pradeep received the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1997. He died in Mumbai on December 11, 1998.
