Founded in the spring of 1980 by three members inspired by the San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus, PGMC held its inaugural concert on June 19, 1980, at the Metropolitan Community Church of Portland. The chorus is recognized as the fourth oldest to publicly identify as gay.
