Biography

Born Pierre Charles Marcel NapolÃ©on Leroyer in the 10th arrondissement of Paris in 1918, Pierre DelanoÃ« took his artist's name from his grandmother's surname. Beginning his immense career with Gilbert BÃ©caud, his 5,000 songs include lyrics that have left a deep mark on the collective memory of the French-speaking world: "Il est mort le soleil", "Adieu Angelina", "La Ballade des gens heureux","Le Bal des Laze", "Le France", "L'ÃtÃ© indien". Pierre DelanoÃ«, also a radio personality, died on December 27, 2006.
