Biography

Petr Ulrych, born on February 21, 1944, in Hradec Králové, Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia, is a singer, composer, and lyricist. After studying aeronautical engineering and privately learning piano and double bass, Ulrych co-founded the Brno Theatre without Traditions in 1961. He joined the rock band Vulkán in 1964, followed by Atlantis with his sister Hana Ulrychová in 1967. During Czechoslovakia's Normalization era, their rock sound and politically themed lyrics were banned, leading to the formation of the folk-tinged project Javory. Ulrych returned to his original beat style with Javory Beat. He has composed music for film and theatre productions, winning the Alfréd Radok Award in 2001 for Koločava at the Brno City Theatre.
