Biography

Once considered a sex symbol, American actor Patrick Swayze became a singer in 1987 for the film Dirty Dancing. Born on August 18, 1952 in Houston (Texas), Patrick Swayze became famous in the early 1980s for his roles as a sexy young brute. Initially intended for the video market, the musical film Dirty Dancing became a social phenomenon similar to Grease. In a soundtrack featuring Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons and Otis Redding, Patrick Swayze sings the song "She's Like the Wind", which he co-composed. The song reaches number three on the Billboard charts and in many other countries. In France, the song charted in 1992 and 1993, peaking at number seven. Patrick Swayze did not pursue a singing career, despite the release of a second single "Raising Heaven in Hell Tonight" in 1989. The actor died of pancreatic cancer on September 14, 2009 in Los Angeles, California.
