Biography
Panzerballett, a German quintet led by guitarist Jan Zehrfeld, was formed in Munich in 2004. The band's unique blend of jazz and metal emerged from Zehrfeldâs desire to channel his aggression into complex musical compositions. After several years of searching for the right musicians, Panzerballett released their self-titled debut album Panzerballett in 2005, which garnered positive reviews within the German progressive rock scene. In 2007, they signed with ACT Music and released Starke Stücke (2008), which reached number 26 on the German jazz charts. Their subsequent albums included Hart Genossen von ABBA bis Zappa (2009), which peaked at number 25 on the jazz charts, and Tank Goodness (2012). Panzerballett is known for their virtuosic performances and humorous stage presence, often incorporating elements of jazz, funk, and metal into their music.
