Biography
Ought was a post-punk band from Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The group consisted of Tim Darcy on vocals and guitar, Ben Stidworthy on bass guitar, Matt May on keyboards, and Tim Keen on drums. Ought was formed in 2011 when its members began living together in a communal band practice space. Their first EP, New Calm, was released in 2012. After signing with Constellation Records, the band released their full-length album, More than Any Other Day, in 2014, which achieved critical acclaim, including a Best New Music accolade from Pitchfork Media, and reached number 20 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart in the United States. Ought worked with producer Nicolas Vernhes on their third studio album, Room Inside the World, which was released in 2018. The band announced its disbandment in November 2021.
