Othella Dallas, born Othella Talmadge Strozier on September 26, 1925, in Memphis, Tennessee, was an American dancer and jazz singer. Discovered by Katherine Dunham in 1943, she toured extensively as a soloist with the Dunham Company before moving to France in 1949. Her singing career began in the early 1950s, performing with notable figures like Sidney Bechet and Nat King Cole. Dallas opened dance schools in Paris and Zurich, teaching the Dunham technique. She released her first album, Rhythm Is My Business, in 1981, followed by several others, including What's This Thing Called Love? (2000) and I Live the Life I Love (2008). Dallas received the Swiss Jazz Award in 2019 and passed away on November 28, 2020.
