Biography

Oslo Groove Company was a Norwegian jazz big band from Oslo, active between 1985 and 1996. The ensemble was initiated and led by trombonist Jens Wendelboe from its formation until 1987, after which Lars Erik Gudim took over leadership while Harald Devold managed the group. The band's lineup includes pianist Bugge Wesseltoft, drummer Erik Smith, and saxophonists Petter Wettre, Knut Riisnæs, and Bernhard Seland. Other notable contributors included trumpet player Frank Brodahl and trombonist Helge Sunde. During its career, the group released three studio albums. Their debut, Anno 1990, was released in 1990 through Hot Club Records and received the Spellemannprisen for jazz that same year. The band subsequently established its own label, Groove Records, to release its remaining catalog. This included Anno 1992, released in 1992, and their final album, Anno 1996, which appeared in 1996.
