Steve Poltz, born February 19, 1960, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, is a Canadian-American singer-songwriter and guitarist. He is a founding member of the indie-rock band The Rugburns, gaining a cult following through performances at coffeehouses and bars. In 1996, Steve Poltz collaborated with Jewel on "You Were Meant for Me", which reached number 2 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. As a solo artist, he released his debut album One Left Shoe in 1998 under Mercury Records and later formed his own label, 98 Pounder Records. Notable albums include Chinese Vacation (2003), Dreamhouse (2010), and Stardust & Satellites (2022).
