Biography

Right down to the choice of its name, OMC (Otara Millionaires Club) opts for surprising artistic associations. In this case, Otara refers to a poor district of Auckland, New Zealand, the country of origin of the duo formed by Pauly Fuemana and Alan Jansson in 1993. Two years later, after signing with British label Huh! Records, OMC released their rap, pop-rock and Latin hit "How Bizarre", which reached number one in many countries, becoming New Zealand's best-selling single ever. In 1997, the studio album followed suit, selling almost four million copies. But tensions over the distribution of royalties got the better of the duo, who split up the following year. They reformed in 2005, but Pauly Fuemana succumbed to a degenerative disease at the age of 40 on January 31, 2010.
