Biography

Olivia Molina, born January 3, 1946, in Copenhagen, Denmark, is a German-Mexican tango and folk singer. Her career began at age 14 in Acapulco, performing hits by Paul Anka and Brenda Lee. She signed her first record deal with Peerless in Mexico City and released "Juego De Palabras" in 1965. In 1966, she moved to Germany and started recording songs in German. Her breakthrough came with the cover of The Beatles' "Let It Be", titled "Aber Wie". In 1972, Molina participated in the German Eurovision selection with "Die Größte Manege Der Welt" and won the Deutsche Schlagerwettbewerb in 1973 with "Das Lied". Her most successful single was "Der Weg Zum Glück Ist Frei", released in 1974. She later focused on Latin American folklore and Christmas music, composing a Misa Latinoamericana for Adveniat in 1980.
