Noriyuki Asakura, born on February 11, 1954, in Itabashi, Tokyo, Japan, is a composer and vocalist known for his work in folk and rock music. His interest in music began in childhood, leading him to perform with amateur rock bands as a guitarist and vocalist. He entered the music industry professionally in 1982, debuting with the theme song for Keiji Yoroshiku under the name Noriyuki Asakura & GANG. Asakura gained prominence with the soundtrack for the anime series Rurouni Kenshin, Rurouni Kenshin -Meiji Kenkaku Romantan- The Original Soundtrack, released in 1996, which blended traditional Japanese music with rock elements. He also composed for the Tenchu and Way of the Samurai video game franchises, notably contributing "Add'ua" to Tenchu: Stealth Assassins in 1998.
