Nikolai Nikolajewitsch Nekrassow, born on June 30, 1932, in Moscow, Soviet Union, was a Russian conductor and composer. He studied at the October Revolution Music School from 1947 to 1952 and later at the Gnessin Music and Pedagogical Institute under G. F. Simin and Semjon Semjonowitsch Sacharow until 1960. Nekrassov became the chief conductor of the Pjatnizki Choir in 1957, then directed the State Academic Folk Dance Ensemble of the USSR from 1960. From 1973 to his death, he led the Orchestra of Russian Folk Instruments of the All-Union Radio and Central Television. Notable albums include The Evening Bells (1982), Old Russian Waltzes (1985), and Red Sarafan (1986). He received accolades such as the Gold Medal of the VI World Festival of Youth and Students (1957) and was named an Honored Artist of the RSFSR in 1971. Nekrassov passed away on March 21, 2012.
