Biography

Nicholas Barry Chinn (born 16 May 1945 in London) is an English-American songwriter and producer best known for his partnership with Mike Chapman. Chinn's career began in 1970 when he co-wrote music for There's a Girl in My Soup. Soon after, he met Chapman, and the duo joined Mickie Most’s RAK label. They found early success writing for The Sweet, penning hits like Blockbuster!, The Ballroom Blitz, and Teenage Rampage. In the mid-1970s, Chinn and Chapman worked with Suzi Quatro (Can the Can), Mud (Tiger Feet), and Smokie (Living Next Door to Alice). Their success continued into the late 1970s and 1980s with Kiss You All Over (Exile) and Mickey (Toni Basil). After their split in 1983, Chinn co-wrote for Kim Wilde and later collaborated with Westlife and Selena Gomez. He now works in Nashville, continuing his songwriting career.
