Biography

Nick Harper, born Nicholas Harper on June 22, 1965, in London, England, is an English singer-songwriter and guitarist. Influenced by his father Roy Harper's musical friends, he began playing guitar at age 10 and made his recording debut on his father’s 1985 album Whatever Happened to Jugula?. Harper released his first solo EP, Light at the End of the Kennel, in 1994, followed by his debut album Seed in 1995. A meeting with Glenn Tilbrook led to Harper being signed to Tilbrook's Quixotic Records label and supporting Squeeze on tour. He recorded several albums including Smithereens (1998) and Harperspace (2000). In 2005, his album Treasure Island marked a shift towards more political themes. Harper has performed at numerous festivals including Glastonbury and Beautiful Days, and received Herald Fringe Angel awards in 2003 and 2019 for his performances at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Further recordings includes Miracle for Beginners (2007), The Last Guitar (2010), Lies! Lies! Lies! (2017), Tempus Fugitive (2023), and Earth Day Blue (2024). In 2025, he released the live album 58 Fordwych Rd.
