Chris Austin Hadfield, born on August 29, 1959 in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada, is a former astronaut. He joined the Canadian military in 1978 and was selected for the Canadian Space Agency astronaut program in 1992. He participated in multiple space missions, including STS-74 in 1995 and STS-100 in 2001. His most notable mission was his command of Expedition 35 on the ISS from December 2012 to May 2013, during which he gained widespread attention for his social media presence and musical performances in space, including a cover of "Space Oddity" by David Bowie. His album Space Sessions: Songs From a Tin Can was released in October 2015, reaching number 10 on the Canadian charts.
