An audition project called NewKids or also known as New Kids on the STARSHIP was announced by Starship Entertainment on July 8, 2024, aiming to create their next boy group, four years after launching CRAVITY. On March 3, 2025, they introduced official social media accounts and unveiled the logo for the survival show, titled Debut's Plan, which premiered on March 14. The show featured 21 contestants, all revealed on March 8, with only seven initially expected to debut. Throughout the competition, a rotating team of seven trainees called NewKids7 was selectedâfirst by Starshipâs internal "Board" for five rounds, and then with fan participation for the final two. The contestants have released several singles throughout the show, including "ImPerfect" and "Balla" (2025). In the end, eight trainees were chosen to debut as the new boy group IDID under Starship Entertainment.
