Biography

Nam Hyun-joon, also known as Poppin' Hyun Joon, is a South Korean dancer, rapper, and singer, born on January 30, 1979, in Seoul. Renowned for his exceptional popping techniques, including ticking, animation, tutting, and gliding, he is regarded as a pioneer of South Korean breakdancing. His innovative style and explosive moves earned him recognition both in South Korea and internationally. Hyun-joon gained fame through his involvement in various dance groups, including Cyborg G, FREEZE, and Newest35, and has been a sought-after dance choreographer and trainer for celebrities. He made his mark in the Korean entertainment industry with his 2005 single "Lion's Roar," which reflected his passion and determination for dance. In 2007, Hyun-joon released his first hip-hop album, One & Only, featuring the hit single "Don't Stop." His fame further grew after performing at the 2006 FIFA World Cup. In 2010, he married Korean folk singer Park Aeri, and they frequently appear together on TV to promote the fusion of traditional Korean music and modern dance. Hyun-joon has also appeared in films and dramas, including Fly, Daddy, Fly (2006) and Kung Fu Hip Hop (2008). He continues to be active as a dancer and entrepreneur, founding the Poppin HyunJoon Art Company in 2014.
