Biography

Naji Subhy Paul Irénée Hakim was born in 1955 in Beirut, Lebanon. He is a Lebanese-French composer, organist, and improviser who studied under Jean Langlais and at the Conservatoire de Paris. Hakim won the first prize for interpretation at the St Albans International Organ Festival in 1983. From 1985 to 1993, he served as an organist at the Basilica of Sacré-Cœur in Paris, followed by a tenure at La Trinité from 1993 to 2008. He received the Prix de Composition Musicale André Caplet in 1991 and was awarded an honorary doctorate by the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik, Lebanon, in 2002. In 2007, he was honored with the Order Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice by Pope Benedict XVI.
