Murat GöÄebakan â born on October 9, 1968, in Sarıçam, Turkey â was a musician, singer, and songwriter best known for playing Anatolian rock, which is a form of Turkish psychedelic music. After graduating from Hacettep University Ankara State Conservatory, he began working as a lecturer but would also give guitar lessons and work other odd jobs. Moving to Istanbul in 1995, he signed with Prestij Music and released his debut album, Ben Sana AÅık Oldum, in 1997. The album â which featured the singles "Ben Sana AÅık Oldum,â âKara Gözlüm,â and âÃyle ki Hasretimsin" - was a success and he received several nominations from the Kral Turkey Music Awards, winning the trophy for Best Breakthrough Male Artist. Murat GöÄebakan followed that success with albums such as Tek Suçum Seni SevmekmiÅ (1999), Merhaba (2000), Yaralı (2004), and AÅıklar Yolu (2010). His final album, 2012âs AÅkın GözyaÅları, featured tracks such as âVurgunumâ and âTapılacak Kadınsın.â Murat GöÄebakan died of leukemia on July 31, 2014, at the age of 45.
