MU540 is a Brazilian producer and DJ (born Murilo Oliveira Santos, from Praia Grande, São Paulo) who built his name by fusing baile funk with rap, drill, and house, first sharing tracks online in the late 2010s before stepping into official releases and festival stages. He laid early groundwork with the independent album Música Popular Favelada, Vol. 01 (2018), then sharpened a club-oriented sound on the Rave Funk EP (2020), whose cut “Toma de Graça” began circulating across DSPs. His breakout network formed around São Paulo’s rap scene: in 2021 he co-produced “BALLA” with Febem and Kyan; two years later he and Kyan delivered their first joint project, the 7-track album UM Quebrada Inteligente (2023), introducing a tight, sample-sliced template for funk-rap crossovers. 2023 also brought an international collaboration when Marshmello and Tropkillaz tapped MU540 for “Movimenta” also featuring MC GW, issued as part of the Mellokillaz EP. In 2024 he expanded into house-inflected textures on the EP 4x4, preceded by the single “DZ7,” and began appearing on larger festival bills while giving interviews that framed his aim of taking funk to global dance stages. The Kyan partnership scaled again in 2025 with the album DOIS Quebrada Inteligente, adding standouts like “Pente 270!,” “Preto Rico, Nunca Liso!,” and “Mente Pensante (Bonus Track),” alongside solo drops such as “Malokeragem” and the NO STOP III EP track “Ronnie.”
