Moto Kawabe is a Japanese singer-songwriter and producer best known as the frontman of the indie pop band Mitsume. Formed in 2009, the band captured international acclaim for its airy, distinct indie-pop sound and melancholic lyricism before pausing activities in September 2024. Following the hiatus, Kawabe transitioned fully into a solo career, embracing a highly independent, DIY creative process. He handles songwriting, arranging, recording, mixing, and even artwork production by himself. To expand his sonic palette, Kawabe collaborates with close musician friends for both studio recordings and live performances, creating a refreshing and dynamic band sound. His evolution as a solo artist is highlighted by the release of standout singles like "Convex Mirror"(2026), a track that beautifully showcases his signature floating melodies and introspective atmosphere. This single served as a key preview of his highly anticipated debut solo studio album, Missing, which was officially released in July 2026.
