Moriah Castillo Peters, known professionally as Moriah Smallbone and previously Moriah Peters, was born on October 2, 1992, in Pomona, California. She is an American singer and songwriter who began writing songs at 13 and playing the guitar at a young age. After being introduced to Wendi Foy following her appearance on American Idol, Peters signed with Reunion Records in August 2011. Her debut, I Choose Jesus, was released in April 2012. Peters' second album, Brave, was released in July 2014, with the lead single, "You Carry Me". She has toured extensively with artists like Audrey Assad and MercyMe. Peters also ventured into acting, appearing in films such as Because of Gracia (2017) and joining the cast of the streaming television series The Chosen in 2023 to portray Bathsheba.
