Modestep, an English dubstep duo, was formed in 2010 by Josh Friend and Tony Friend. Initially a band with multiple members, Modestep began their career as a rock electronic group based in the United Kingdom. Their debut single "Feel Good" was released on February 6, 2011, and reached Number 38 on the UK Singles Chart. The band's first album, Evolution Theory, was initially set for release in September 2012 but was delayed until February 11, 2013. This album included notable singles such as "Sunlight", which debuted at Number 16 on the British charts, and "To the Stars". Modestep continued to gain popularity with subsequent releases like "Another Day" and "Show Me a Sign". Their second album, London Road, was released in 2015. This album featured collaborations with artists such as FuntCase and Teddy Killerz. Following the departure of several members in 2014, including Nick Tsang and Matthew Curtis, Modestep continued as a duo with Josh Friend and Pat Lundy. They signed with Disciple Records and Monstercat, releasing singles like "Living for the Weekend" and "Higher". In 2019, they released their EP Echoes through Disciple Records, which included collaborations with Virtual Riot. Modestep's career continued with various releases and tours, showcasing their versatility in rock music and electronic genres.
