Mitty Lene Collier, born on June 21, 1941, in Birmingham, Alabama, is an American singer known for her contributions to soul music. She began singing in church as a teenager and toured with gospel groups such as the Hayes Ensemble and the Lloyd Reese Singers. In 1959, while visiting Chicago, Mitty Collier won a talent show at the Regal Theater, which led to a recording contract with Chess Records. Her first record for the label was "Gotta Get Away From It All", but her breakthrough came in 1963 with "I'm Your Part Time Love" and later that year with "I Had A Talk With My Man", reaching number 20 on the Billboard R&B chart, and number 41 on the Billboard Hot 100. She released an album Shades of a Genius in 1965, which included notable tracks like "No Faith, No Love" and "Sharing You", both of which charted successfully. After leaving Chess Records in 1968, Mitty Collier recorded with William Bell's Peachtree Records but her career was interrupted by vocal issues. In 1972, she transitioned to gospel music, releasing albums such as The Warning (1972) and Hold The Light (1977). She later became a pastor at the More Like Christ Christian Fellowship Ministries in Chicago and received numerous humanitarian awards, including the NCNW Woman of Wonder Award in 2000.
