Miriam Britos (born April 5, 1974, in Artigas, Uruguay) began performing as a child, first stepping onstage at seven and spending her early years in festivals, events, and local contests before entering a conservatory at 13 and starting professional studio work in tropical music at 14. She later spent 13 years with Grupo Mogambo, the band heard on the 1996 album Explosiva, a release that local bio material credits with going gold. In the early 2000s she launched Miriam Britos y su Banda, the project that became the center of her live career in Uruguay’s tropical circuit. Her more clearly documented recording run on digital services starts with the 2017 album Miriam Britos and singles such as “Me Equivoqué” and “Caso Perdido,” followed by 2018’s “Dos Extremos” with Sonido Cotopaxi, 2021 releases including “Mi Corazón” with Rami Britos and Fiesta del Interior #5, and 2022 singles “Pecado Perfecto” and “Sigue Tu Camino.” She added later collaborations with Catherine Vergnes on “Tanto Que Amamos” in 2023 and Lucrecia on “No Me Enseñaste” in 2025, then returned in 2026 with a new version of “Me Equivoqué” alongside La Penúltima. In 2025, after decades in music, she also entered national politics as a deputy for Artigas.
