Biography
The Minglewood Band was a Canadian rock group from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, formed in the late 1960s by guitarist/vocalist Matt Minglewood. The band's initial lineup included bassist/vocalist Donnie Hann, percussionist Bob Woods, guitarist Mark MacMillan, and vocalist Paul Dunn. Vocalist Enver Sampson Jr. joined in the early 1970s. They released their self-titled debut album Minglewood Band independently in 1976. The group signed with RCA Records in 1979 and saw chart success with albums such as Moving (1980), which peaked at number 57 on the Canadian charts, and Out on a Limb (1981), reaching number 38. In 1982, they shortened their name to Minglewood and switched labels to Columbia Records, with guitarist Mark MacMillan being replaced by George Antoniak. The band received a Juno Award nomination for Most Promising Group of the Year in 1980.
