Mikel Markez Ibarguren, born on October 4, 1971, in RenterÃa, Spain, is a Basque singer-songwriter who accompanies himself with guitar. He began composing songs at 16 and debuted on stage in the summer of 1988. His first LP, Eta etorri egin zait..., was released in 1991, launching his career as a key figure in Basque music. Markez has participated in shows blending poetry and music, notably collaborating with writer Pako Aristi on the album Dena hankaz gora. Throughout his career, he has worked with various singers, including Erramun Martikorena and Benito Lertxundi. Notable albums include Oroitzapenak oparitzen ditut (1994), Zertarako mugak jarri (1995), "Kantu erotikoak" (1997), and Hiri hartan izan zen (2011). In 2013, Markez received the Tene Mujika award.
