Biography

Mihimaru GT, a Japanese duo consisting of composer, lyricist, and vocalist Miyake, along with vocalist and lyricist Hiroko, came together through their shared management company. Their debut single, "Yakusoku" (Promise), released on July 30, 2003, only reached number 156 on the Oricon Top 200, however, follow-up single "Kaerōka" (released in April 2004) climbed significantly, peaking at number 32. Their debut album, Mihimarhythm, released in September of the same year, secured the number 16 spot, followed by Mihimalife, which reached number 18. In 2006, their single "Kibun Jojo" became a commercial anthem and was adopted as the ending theme for the variety show Sukibara. Their appearance on Music Station on May 5, 2006, catapulted the single to the 7th position, and the duo gained further momentum with "Itsumademo Hibiku Kono Melody/Magical Speaker" which went to number 3, seeing their third album Mihimagic claim the second spot. After the success of “Gazen Yeah!” released in August 2007, which peaked at number 5, they released a hip-hop rendition of Kylie Minogue's "I Should Be So Lucky," which served as the ending theme for the Japanese drama Abarenbou Mama (Wild Mama), reaching number 8. Both singles featured on their fourth album, Mihimarise, which topped the charts in May the following year. Over the next three years, Mihimaru GT maintained a streak of top 20 singles, including "diverge," (2008) followed by "Girigiri Hero," (2008) "Un Lock," (2009) "Love Letter," (2010), and "Omedeto" which achieved varying degrees of success, seeing 5th and 6th albums Mihimalogy (2010) and Mihimalight (2011) hit number 6 in and 12, respectively. In 2013, the duo announced an indefinite hiatus, opting to concentrate on their solo careers.
