Biography

Michael Wycoff, born Michael on February 8, 1953 in the United States, emerged as a soul singer from Wilmington, Los Angeles, where he played keyboards and sang in school talent shows. After backing Stevie Wonder on Songs in the Key of Life, he signed a solo contract with RCA and released his debut album Come to My World in 1980 followed by Love Conquers All in 1982; both albums produced modest hits on the U.S. R&B charts, notably the single "Looking Up to You", which was later sampled by Zhané in 1993. In 1983, Wycoff released On The Line. His career faced setbacks due to substance abuse, leading to personal and professional decline, but he later resumed music ministry in Los Angeles churches. Michael Wycoff passed away on March 13, 2019 at age 66 from pancreatic cancer.
